Amateur radio has the unique capability to provide communications when no other means are available. For reliable, alternative communications or an enjoyable hobby, take a look at amateur/ham radio. Moore County has an active amateur radio club, the Moore County Amateur Radio Society (MOCARS). Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month (except December) at 7:00p.m. at the Health Department, 705 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage NC. Meetings are open to all interested, you do not have to be a ham to attend. Periodic licensing exams are held the third Saturday of odd months at 9:00am, also at the Health Department. For further information visit the Club website at www.mocars.org.
