The Moore County Amateur Radio Society (MOCARS) is an active part of the community, providing service and educational activities and including support of communications requirements for Moore County by assisting the County Emergency Operations Services and American Red Cross during times of emergency and/or disaster, when asked, through their Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) membership. They will be hosting an annual Field Day at Cannon Park in Pinehurst on June 23-24. Monthly club meetings are held at the Moore County Health Department, 705 Pinehurst Ave in Carthage at 7:00 pm, the third Thursday of each month except December. New members and anyone with an interest in amateur/ham radio are always welcome. An amateur radio license is not necessary. For more info visit the club website at www.mocars.org.
