Firsy Day Hikes

January 1, 2020

Join a park ranger at Weymouth Woods in Southern Pines on Wednesday, January 1st for a First Day Hike.

  1. Meet at the Weymouth Center on Connecticut Avenue at 9 am for an easy 1 mile hike through old growth longleaf pine forest. See the oldest known living longleaf pine in the world!
  2. At 1 pm, see different habitats within the longleaf pine forest on this easy 2 mile hike. Come dressed for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. 
  3. Meet at the Stoneyfield Drive access at 3 pm for an easy 1 and half mile hike. See the rare pyxie-moss that blooms in winter.
